Atkins joint venture awarded Ras Al-Zwar contract
A joint venture led by engineering design consultancy Atkins, working with Ali Khadir-Harbi, Ahmed Omar Radi engineering consultancy (RGC), has been appointed by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu to deliver engineering design services for the long-term development of the city of Ras Al-Zawr. The contract value is around US$16 million, the company says.
The contract was signed this week by Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thunayan Al-Saud, Chairman of the Royal Commission.
The project involves front end engineering design and master planning for the proposed minerals industrial city at Ras Al-Zawr. A multidisciplinary team from Atkins and RGC, including industrial masterplanners, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers and piping system specialists, together with a range of other technical experts will work on the project.
Ras Al-Zawr is a development of strategic importance for industry in Saudi Arabia, on the coast of the Arabian Gulf approximately 80 km north of Jubail Industrial City. The development will be similar to Jubail but will focus on mineral related industries such as phosphate and aluminium.
