A US$13m substation built to ensure the electricity supply of the Dubai Lagoon development has been completed by DEWA and is ready to be commissioned, developer Schön Properties has announced.
The 132/11kV substation cost a total of US$13m, and is ready to cater for Zone 1 of the development, which is slated for completion at the end of 2010.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and Schön Properties have anticipated the extent of power required for a master community such as ‘Dubai Lagoon’ to reach 65 to 70MW. However, the substation has been constructed with a total capacity of 108MW in order to accommodate any additional requirements, and was completed by Dewa within two years.
