Saudi Arabia is expected to increase its production capacity for desalinated water to 1,1 billion cubic metres in 2010 as the country continues to implement measures aimed at improving water supply levels and preventing potential water challenges in the future.
Furthermore, the country expects to invest up to US$350m this year for renovation of old water desalination plants, in addition to new desalination projects being implemented all over Saudi Arabia.

"With up to 70 per cent of the country's drinking water requirements and majority of urban and industrial centres being supplied by desalination facilities, desalination will surely be a key topic at Saudi Water Technology,” says Khaled Daou, Project Manager at Riyadh Exhibitions Company, the event organisers.

Held on May 24 to 2 Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre, the 8th Saudi Water Technology conference aims to showcase the latest technologies, expertise and best practices that will support Saudi Arabia's long-term water strategy, says the Riyadh Exhibitions Company.
