The first European edition of the World Future Energy Summit was held in Spain last month.

The summit is intended to ignite debate around issues of renewable energy and has attracted a series of high-profile speakers in the past.

“In the last two years, the World Future Energy Summit has driven collaboration and dialogue around renewable energy policy, investment and innovation”, said Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar, the driving force behind the event. “Based on our experience and success, we have brought this platform to Bilbao.”

The forum got policymakers, technology providers and investors together to discuss the range of renewable energy issues.

“The UAE and Abu Dhabi in particular, is taking an active role in the development of the renewable energy sector. The leadership of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi recognises that our success depends upon collaboration between both developed and developing nations and the public and private sector,” said Al Jaber.
