The Canadian outfit will team up with local firm Al Hurra International.
Canadian engineering major SNC-Lavalin has won two contracts to assist with the construction of two Iraqi power plants in the southern cities of Hilla and Karbala.
The firm will partner Iraq’s Al Hurra International to build the plants, which together are worth US$170 million.
"An agreement was reached for a power station in Karbala for the amount of 84.8 million dollars to be completed in 18 months, and a project for Hilla power station for the amount of 85.6 million dollars to be completed in 18 months," Iraqi government spokesman Ali Al Dabbagh said in a statement, according to AFP.
