Kuwait is adding further capacity to its grid to combat peak summer loads.
Kuwait is adding further capacity to its grid to combat peak summer loads.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity & Water has confirmed that three of four units at the North Shuaiba power station are now operational, well in advance a planned deadline of June 2010.

The Al Watan daily reported that the achievement was due to special efforts on the part of the ministry to ensure that extra capacity is brought online prior to the summer peak load period.

Three units are currently producing 500MW of power, while a 250MW steam unit will shortly become operational.
