Saleh Jablawi, the Director General of the Water Directorate in the Madina region, has told the Saudi Gazette that investment in new water and sanitation projects in the region is now valued at over $1.3 billion. This figure has benefited from an additional $173 million of allocated investment during the current fiscal year.
The new projects include a water purification station at the Prophet’s Mosque, five water tanks, sanitation stations and investment in water networks. Money has also been directed towards the detection and resolution of leakages in the water networks.
The Saudi Gazette also reports that Saudi Minister of Water and Electricity has agreed to contracts valued at over $58.7 million for other new water and sanitation projects.
