The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity has begun construction of the Ninewa gas power station in Qayara, in a ceremony marking the laying of the plant’s cornerstone.
Coming just two weeks after the first project in the country by a Turkish firm was begun by Calik Enerji, the $380 million, 750-megawatt plant is planned to be completed within 20 months.
