The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) has awarded a contract to build a new US $38 million desalination plant in Ajman, a significant boost for the emirate.
FEWA, which looks after utilities provision in the Northern Emirates (Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah) was recently criticised by the findings of a special Federal National Council (FNC) committee.
A consortium consisting of Aqua Engineering and Tecton Engineering and Construction won the EPC deal, and will now build a reverse osmosis plant capable of producing 7 million gallons a day in Al Zawra, according to Gulf News.
Aqua Engineering will design and supply equipment, while Tection will build the plant.
The consortium has also built desalination plants in Qidfa (Fujairah) and also in Al Zawra (also for FEWA) a year ago.
