In a bid to save electricity and consequently the country’s fuel bill, Jordan will switch to summer time at midnight on Thursday March 31.

Putting the clocks forward by an hour will save the nation 60 gigawatts an hour of power generation and realise a saving almost $3m, with sources at the Electricity Regulating Commission estimating that fuel consumption during the summer months could be reduced by 15,000 tonnes by the application of Daylight Savings Time.
