British firm builds world's largest gate valve for Bahrain seawater intake pipeline
At nearly five and a half metres high and weighing more than seven tonnes, British firm Shipham Valves has built what are believed to be the largest gate valves manufactured from nickel aluminium bronze (NAB) materials.
The 46-inch valves, which were commissioned by global EPC contractor Techip, are to be used on the seawater intake pipelines that form part of the Bahrain Petroleum Company BSC’s installation of the new steam turbo generators project.
John Wall, managing director of Shipham Valves, said: “The successful delivery of these products to the BAPCO-STG project confirms our position as global market leaders, at the cutting edge for the supply of corrosion resistant valve solutions for sea water applications in arduous marine environments in the Middle East region and beyond.”
