Saved: 52 million litres of water at Dubai urinals

Nearly 500 water-free urinals have been installed in Dubai as part of a project that looks set to save 52 million litres of water a year.

It is hoped the urinals will save around US$163,000 annually, after a survey completed by US-based Falcon Waterfree Technologies found that two out of three urinals within Dubai are cistern based, flushing every few minutes whether they’re used or not.

The urinals have been installed in 45 locations around Dubai, including 14 parks, five government buildings, 17 public toilets and seven public markets.
